An oral sedative can reduce anxiety and pain before surgical treatment. Our staff can complete the work needed without the stress of being in the dental chair. Your oral health is important, we have sedation options that can be taken before you come, are needle free, and can make your time in the chair seem like a dream. What is Oral Sedation?Oral sedation is a prescribed pill or drink that can be given to help a patient feel more relaxed during treatment. It comes with options, we can vary the type of medication given and the level of sedation it will provide. There is not one answer, because there is not just one type of patient. Oral sedation can be prescribed for ranging ages, health status and amount of intensity. The results should include a calming sensation to reduce anxiety and pain. Because the medication can alter perception, we do not advise the patient to drive themselves to or from our office when they have taken an oral sedative. We prescribe oral sedatives prior to treatments, including the placement of dental implants, for patients who have higher anxiety, or patients who would benefit due to the length or amount of work being completed.
