Who is a Good Candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day?
Any patient missing one or more teeth or have had long-term problems with their teeth or gums then dental implants might be of benefit to you. Dental implants are the only dental procedure which actually preserves the natural jawbone of the patient.
An evaluation will have to be done of the patient's teeth, soft tissue and bone structure before coming up with a plan. A medical history will be taken too, because certain medical conditions may preclude the patient from the process. Certain immune disorders can interfere with the healing protocols. Smoking can also hinder proper healing.
Our staff will assess the patient's willingness to practice excellent oral hygiene because if they fail to do so, all the work to put in the dental implants, the temporary set of teeth and then the final set of permanent teeth will all be wasted effort. The implants will last a lifetime if properly taken care of.
Because there are potentially quite a few procedures occurring in one day, it should be noted that the potential for infection is higher than for most other procedures. There is also the potential to damage other teeth while extracting the remaining teeth and placing the dental implants. It has also been reported that these procedures have been known to cause nerve damage in the patient. It can also cause sinus problems if an implant in the upper jaw punctures the sinus cavity.
